Paper Stocks
The right paper stock changes how your flyer feels in someone's hand — and how seriously they take it. Here are the most common options and when to use each.
Standard coated stock with a glossy surface. Bright colors, crisp images. Most common for general flyers.
Non-reflective coated stock for an upscale look. Easier to read in bright light.
Natural, writable surface. Great for forms, schedules, and anything recipients need to write on.
Heavier, stiffer stock with a gloss finish. Ideal for sell sheets and premium handouts.
Thick, sturdy, non-reflective stock. Feels substantial in hand — excellent for leave-behinds.
Lightweight gloss stock perfect for high-volume distribution where cost matters.
Best Use Cases by Industry
Flyers and brochures work across virtually every industry. Here's how different businesses use them most effectively.
Nothing moves a promotion like a physical flyer in a customer's hands. Design around your offer with big, bold visuals and a clear call-to-action. Include a QR code linking to your checkout or landing page.
Full-color 8.5×11 property sheets with floor plans, photos, and pricing. Tri-fold brochures make excellent property marketing kits that prospects take home and study. High-quality paper stock reflects the quality of the property.
Half-fold brochures work beautifully as compact menus, drink lists, and daily specials inserts. Flat flyers are perfect for promotional BOGO offers and new menu launches distributed at the door or counter.
Patient education brochures in tri-fold format. Service menus for spas, chiropractic offices, and wellness centers. Appointment reminders and new patient intake flyers work great as half-sheets.
Door hanger-style flyers and leave-behinds for HVAC, pest control, landscaping, roofing, and cleaning services. A 4×6 flyer left on a door is the most cost-effective prospecting tool in home services.
Course catalogs, event programs, enrollment brochures, and parent communication flyers. Tri-fold or accordion-fold brochures organize detailed information into a readable, portable format.
Event schedules, speaker bios, sponsor recognition flyers, and session guides in accordion or Z-fold formats. Flat flyers make great event handouts and are easy to stuff in registration bags.
Product sell sheets, seasonal catalog inserts, loyalty program announcements, and packaging inserts. Matte laminate flyers feel premium in a shopping bag. Include a QR code or discount code on every piece.
Design Tips for Print-Ready Flyers & Brochures
Follow these guidelines to ensure your artwork prints sharp, accurate, and exactly as you designed it.
Keep the hierarchy clear
Headline → subheadline → body copy → call to action. Every flyer needs a single most important message. Don't bury your offer in body copy.
Use CMYK at 300 DPI
Convert all colors from RGB to CMYK before exporting. Use 300 DPI images throughout. Blurry images and unexpected color shifts are the two most common print issues.
Add 0.125" bleed all around
Extend your background color or images 1/8" past the trim edge so you get a clean, edge-to-edge result after cutting. Our templates include bleed guides.
Design for fold lines (brochures)
In folded brochures, never place important text, logos, or images across a fold line. The fold will interrupt the visual flow. Leave at least 1/4" of clear space on each side of every fold.
Include a clear call to action
Every flyer should answer "What do I do next?" — Visit this URL, call this number, scan this QR code, visit us at this address. One action per flyer gets the best response rate.
Use white space strategically
Cluttered flyers get ignored. White space directs the reader's eye to your most important message. Less content, placed better, always outperforms a wall of text.
Free Design Templates
Download templates for every flyer size and brochure fold type. Each template includes the correct dimensions, bleed guides, safe zone marks, and fold lines already set up. Available in EPS (for Illustrator/InDesign) and JPG (for reference preview).
Brochure templates include panel marks and fold lines on a non-printing layer. Export your final file as a PDF with bleed or a flattened JPG/PNG at 300 DPI.
