Raised Foil business cards are printed on 16pt card stock with 1.5mil soft velvet, scuff-resistant laminate on both sides, giving them a substantial 19pt thickness with a luxurious feel. The raised metallic foil is then applied on top of the velvet laminate, creating a stunning contrast between the soft matte surface and the shiny, textured foil. To set up your files, you will need your regular CMYK print file and a separate Raised Foil mask file showing where the foil should be applied. Important requirements for your mask file: it must be vector artwork created in Illustrator or a similar vector program. Use solid 100% black (C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100) for foil areas and white for non-foil areas. Do not use shadows, glows, or grayscale images. Knockouts are not recommended since there may be a shift of up to 1/16 inch when foil is applied. We highly recommend having a solid color behind the foil mask area, as any artwork or text underneath may be slightly visible through the foil.
