How can Pantone colors affect the way my job prints
Pantone (spot) colors cause three common problems in CMYK printing. First, transparency issues: shadows, glows, or transparent images placed over Pantone colors produce white boxes or color shifts after printing — fix this by converting all Pantone colors to CMYK before applying any effects. Second, transparent image problems: images with transparency on a Pantone background may lose their transparency and show white areas — again, convert Pantone to CMYK first. Third, color conversion differences: Pantone inks are formulated to specific appearances that CMYK process printing cannot always match, so some Pantone colors will look noticeably different once converted. Always convert all Pantone colors to CMYK and verify you are satisfied with the result before submitting your file.
