    Custom Finishing Options

Add that extra pop to your business cards with our custom finishing services. Each option is designed to help your cards get noticed and remembered.

    Foil Stamping

Multi-colored foils imprinted into your card in designated shapes, designs, or lettering. Make your company name shine right off the page with our state-of-the-art foil stamping process.

    Embossing

Our die press imprints custom designs on your business cards, adding a tactile, dimensional element that recipients can feel. A great way to ensure your cards are noticed.

    Die Cutting

Create unique shapes by cutting your company logo out of the card or modifying the edge design. Leaf, oval, and circle cuts add a truly unique feel.

    Metallic Ink

Similar to foil stamping but more cost-effective. Metallic ink provides a contrasting, shiny effect for lettering or designs — great for adding premium appeal on a budget.

Few print shops explain what actually makes a card work. At Catdi Printing, we design for impact.

    Frequently Asked Questions

We offer a wide range including Standard (14pt, 16pt), Suede (velvet soft-touch), Silk (soft-touch matte), Pearl (shimmer), Natural (recycled), Brown Kraft, Linen Uncoated, Akuafoil (metallic), EndurACE (waterproof synthetic), and Plastic. Each stock is available with additional finishes like raised spot UV, foil, and painted edges.
Our 14pt Metallic Pearl paper is embedded with pearl fibers that give the card a smooth, iridescent shimmer when viewed from different angles. Your CMYK colors print with a subtle metallic glow. Heavy ink coverage may reduce the pearl effect, so designs with lighter areas or white space show the shimmer best. Great for luxury brands, photographers, and event planners.
Our 14pt Natural cards have a light cream, natural white color with a smooth finish. The stock contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste content, making it an eco-friendly choice. The warm cream tone pairs beautifully with earth tones, classic typography, and minimalist designs — ideal for law firms, consultants, and artisan businesses.
EDGE Cards are ultra-premium 32pt triple-layered cards with a colored core visible on the edges. The face stock is 9pt bright white premium uncoated paper, and the core is 14pt premium opaque black (or other colors). They're noticeably thicker than standard cards and make an immediate impression. Yes, you can write on them — the uncoated surface accepts pen and pencil easily.
Suede cards start with 16pt stock, then we apply 1.5mil soft velvet, scuff-resistant laminate to both sides for a total of 19pt. The velvety texture softens colors slightly and creates an elegant, sophisticated look. They're water-resistant (not waterproof) and the laminate protects against scuffs. The "Suede" name refers to the texture — it's technically a velvet laminate finish.
EDGE Cards last for years under normal conditions. The triple-layered construction is durable and holds up well in wallets and card holders. Just avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, cold, or humidity. Under normal everyday conditions, they'll maintain their quality for a long time.
Spot UV applies a flat, shiny coating to specific areas — you see the glossy contrast but the surface stays smooth. Raised Spot UV applies the same coating at about 50 microns thick, so you can physically feel it when you run your finger across the card. Both require a mask file. Raised Spot UV is popular for logos and brand marks where you want a tactile impact.
Keep UV coverage under 30% of the card area. Up to 70% is OK only with patterns or thin strokes — not large solid areas. No single UV area should exceed about 1" × 1". Your mask file must be vector artwork (Illustrator recommended). Use solid 100% black for UV areas and white for non-UV areas. Following these guidelines ensures crisp, professional results.
Each Foil Worx order uses one type of foil (e.g., Gold or Silver — you can't mix them in one order). Provide a separate foil mask file alongside your print file: solid 100% black (K only) where you want foil, white everywhere else. If combining with Spot UV, provide separate mask files for each. We recommend creating mask files in Illustrator or CorelDRAW for the sharpest results.
Akuafoil turns CMYK colors into multi-colored metallic foils. A special foil layer is applied under your full-color print, creating a vibrant metallic effect. You'll need a CMYK print file plus a separate mask file (100% black = foil, white = no foil). It works best on lighter colors — dark colors reduce the metallic vibrancy. Use sans-serif fonts above 12pt. To avoid white halos at knockouts, grow the mask area by 1 point.
Foil Worx produces a flat foil finish — the metallic accent is flush with the card surface. Raised Foil produces a textured, dimensional finish about 60 microns thick that you can physically feel. Raised Foil cards also come on a velvet laminate base (19pt total), adding another layer of luxury. Both create a premium look, but Raised Foil adds the tactile element.
Raised Foil cards are 16pt stock with 1.5mil velvet laminate on both sides (19pt total). You'll need a regular print file plus a vector mask file (created in Illustrator). Use solid 100% black (C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100) for foil areas, white for non-foil. No shadows, glows, or grayscale. Keep foil coverage under 30%. Use solid colors behind the foil — text underneath may show through. Fonts should be 10pt minimum (12pt for bold).
Painted Edge cards are 32pt uncoated cards with color applied directly to the edges — visible when stacked or viewed from the side. File setup is standard (front and/or back). You choose your edge color when ordering. Your background color may slightly influence the edge color appearance, especially with very dark or light backgrounds, but individual cards look great.
We recommend PDF for the best results — it preserves fonts, colors, and layout exactly. We also accept JPG, JPEG, TIF, TIFF, and EPS. For PDFs, embed or outline all fonts and flatten layers before uploading. For roll labels, use vector files (EPS or PDF) at 300 DPI, and use 100% black (K only) for fine lines and text under 9pt.
Always design in CMYK color mode — that's the color system used in commercial printing. RGB files (designed for screens) will shift during conversion: bright blues, vivid greens, and saturated purples appear darker or muted. In Illustrator: File > Document Color Mode > CMYK. In Photoshop: Image > Mode > CMYK. This one step can save you from costly reprints.
All artwork should be 300 DPI (dots per inch). Web images at 72 DPI will appear blurry and pixelated when printed — even if they look fine on screen. A logo that's perfect on your website may print as a blocky mess at 72 DPI. If files are below 300 DPI, we may need to place your order on hold for corrected files.
Bleed extends your design 0.125" (1/8 inch) past the cut line on all sides. It's essential whenever colors or images go to the edge — without it, you may get thin white strips after cutting. Keep all text and important elements at least 0.125" inside the cut line (the safe zone). We provide templates for all products to make this easy.
Both front and back files must use the same orientation — either both vertical or both horizontal. Files print head-to-head as submitted. If you want the back upside-down, submit it rotated 180°. For fold-over cards, set up panels so they fold correctly. When in doubt, contact us before submitting — we'll help you get it right.
Our minimum order is 250 business cards. Volume discounts start at 1,000 cards, with the best per-unit pricing at 5,000+ cards.
Standard turnaround is 5–7 business days. Rush options are available for 2–3 day turnaround. Contact us for expedited options on specific stocks.
Absolutely. Full-color printing on both sides is included at no extra charge. We recommend using the back for your services, social media handles, or a QR code.
Yes — we offer Leaf (rounded on opposite corners), Oval, and Circle die-cut shapes in addition to standard rectangles and rounded corners. Custom die-cut shapes are also available.
Our in-house design team creates business cards from scratch or polishes your existing artwork. We review every file before printing at no additional charge to ensure your cards look their best.
